Daniel Milan

Daniel Milan (b. 1978, Denmark) lives and works in Copenhagen, Denmark. He graduated from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 2006, and has studied at Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Munich 2004-2005.

Daniel Milan’s drawings are set in black both very giddy and neat graphic lines, whereby his motives are easily tucked away behind a tangle of wonderful patterns. Milan’s pictorial universe reflects upon our current location in space and time as anthropological and civilization critical studies. In his drawings Milan presents us among other things for car accidents, human power relations and regional stories from various places like Munich, the Balkans, Japan and most recently Uganda. It is political statements; disturbing, intense and even chaotic.

Daniel Milan primarily works within drawing in the expanded field, in which he let the drawing evolve into monumental formats or large scale wall painting, or he convert them into other medias as artist books, Zines, or installations.
